Staying at the Waldhotel was an experience worth noting. The property exudes a charming, vintage vibe, reminiscent of classic James Bond films, yet it teeters on the edge of needing a refresh. While the rooms are functional-think basic and somewhat industrial-the breathtaking views of the lake more than make up for it. At 130 Euros for two nights, including breakfast, the price is undeniably competitive. We even got a complimentary upgrade from a guest house room, which added some value to our stay. The staff were genuinely welcoming and attentive-something I truly appreciated after my experiences in more remote conservation camps. The breakfast spread was decent, providing a few hot options. I also discovered lovely terrace areas and garden furniture that would be pleasant during warmer months. While it may not lean heavily into luxury, for those seeking a tranquil escape with competitive pricing, Waldhotel could just be your perfect match.
